Today's society is a wonderful thing - some late night broodings
Today’s society is truly a wonderful thing. Media dictates that the worst thing in life these days is to embarrass yourself. In fact, to look stupid in front of other people is almost worse then anything else this life has to offer. (Almost).
So here, ladies and gentlemen (and all the not so lady-like females and not so gentle men out there) comes my key, my wisdom of how to conquer you own personal fear: when you are about to do something utterly stupid that you already know will scares you to bits, make sure to tell as many people as possible that you will do it so that when it comes down to it, you will (by the logic installed in all of us from our very first day in kindergarten when we tripped over and had all the other kids laugh at us) be programmed into thinking that it is in fact scarier and thereby worse to back out and humiliate yourself then to go thorough with whatever stupidity you set out to do.
In short: The key to courage is to tell as many people as possible about your more audacious plans and thereby make sure that you are more afraid of embarrassing yourself and looking bad in front of other people then you are of going through with what you set out to do in the first place (before you fully realised just how scary it would become)!
